Ethical and thoughtful usage of evolving technologies such as AI is often a process rather than a simple solution, and filmmakers can learn from each other along the way. The Archival Producers Alliance Generative AI Initiative has developed these case studies to illustrate the many ways filmmakers are approaching generative AI in their work.

 

These case studies are being developed by APA's Impact & Engagement Coordinator AX Mina. In addition to interviews and analysis, Mina's methodology includes review and feedback from the filmmakers themselves in an effort to make the process both consentful and transparent. APA's intention is to create case studies which will remain relevant even as technologies evolve, by centering the decision-making principles.
