The Archival Producers Alliance’s mission is to elevate and amplify the role of archival producers within non-fiction media and to promote the value, use, protection, and preservation of authentic archival materials.

Founded in 2023, the APA represents over 550 archival producers - and counting - from across the US and internationally. As individuals, our work has appeared on cable, public, and network television, streaming platforms, as well as in theaters and festivals around the world.

As a group, we are using our unique collective knowledge to influence policy and affect change within the industry. We have three main initiatives:

  1. Creating standards and assessing impact of GenAI in nonfiction media and audiovisual archives

  2. Developing methods for Local TV News Preservation

  3. Offering professional development and industry outreach for Archival Producers

Are you a filmmaker looking to find out how working with an archival producer can enhance your documentary,? Check out our guide!
